Don’t think I ever really got around to doing a proper intro post, so here goes. I’ve been heavily into fandom for as long as I can remember and that’s a long time. I’m an oldie! My latest fandom obsession has been Prodigal Son and it even got me back into writing fanfic. It really kept me going during all the COVID lockdowns (the UK had a shielding programme running for people with certain heath issues at the time. So I was indoors for months at a time) I also used that period to revisit some other favourite fandoms and rewatched all of Supernatural, Lucifer, The 100 and other shows and films. I like a wide variety of stuff, from sitcoms, cop shows and sci fi/ fantasy to true crime.
I also like to read, 70 books this year, the most I think I’ve ever read in a year. I actually discovered Booktube was an actual thing at the start of 2023 and was introduced to quite a few new to myself authors (unusual for me as I’m a very set in my ways reader and hardly ever tried new authors. But I’d sort of ran out of books to read with my usual go to authors) I read a lot of fantasy, and some detective, and historical fiction. Read all of The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan (and Brandon Sanderson for the last few) and The Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb. Some Stephen King rereads, urban fantasy series by Jim Butcher (The Dresden Files), Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch (I’m adoring this series after only 3 books so far.) I won’t bore with a full list.
2023 was a very tough year, (partly why I read more than usual, I shared carer responsibilities with my sister) mum’s health began so decline in late 2022 with poor mobility and worsening dementia. Mum passed away in late November this year, she was 93. So we are all dealing with our grief in our own way. I’m doing ok so far. Hope everyone has a Happy New year and do what makes you happy!
